Lira Voice is paused

We are not taking Lira Voice on right now and are not signing anyone up for it. The pages in this section describe the product as it was built, and are kept so existing readers are not left with dead links. Nothing here is available today.

Everything else on the Lira platform, chat, email, WhatsApp and the widget's own voice button, is live and unaffected. If phone support is what you need, tell us through book a demo and we will let you know when we pick it up.

Your agent

Everything on this page is what your agent answers callers from. The more exact it is, the fewer calls need a person.

You can change any of it at any time, before or after you go live. It is not a form you fill in once.

What your business does

A plain description of the business. A caller asking "what do you actually do?" gets an answer from this.

What callers ask about

These three are the ones that matter, because they are what people ring to ask.

Opening hours

Choose from the common patterns, or set it later. If your hours are unusual, say so in plain words.

Prices, and the currency

Pick your currency first. It starts empty on purpose and you must choose: Naira, US dollar, pound, euro, cedi, Kenyan shilling, rand, Canadian dollar or Australian dollar. An assumed currency is the kind of thing nobody notices until the agent quotes dollars to a local caller.

Then write your prices the way you would say them out loud:

Jollof rice 3,500 a plate. Delivery 1,500 within Lekki. Bulk orders from 20 plates, call for a quote.

Ranges, per-item, bulk rates — whatever your callers actually ask about. It is free text rather than a rigid table because real price lists are sentences, not spreadsheets.

Policies

Refunds, cancellations, deposits, delivery areas, anything a caller argues about. Write it as you would explain it to a new member of staff.

What happens if you leave something out

Your agent is told, explicitly, which of these it does not know. If a caller asks about something you have not filled in, it says it will have someone confirm rather than inventing an answer.

That is why the dashboard says loudly that your agent is not ready until these are done: an empty field is not a preference left unset, it is a question a customer will ask that your agent cannot answer.

How it sounds

The name it answers to

This is the first thing every caller hears. Your customers are calling you, so the name should be yours, not ours.

Each voice comes with a default name — the Nigerian voice is Fred — and you can change it to anything. Your agent greets with "Hi, this is [name] at [your business]".

Lira is the platform and the name of our own American English voice on the main product. It is not what should answer your phone.

Personality

Choose the register: warm and friendly, professional and concise, calm and reassuring, upbeat and energetic, or formal and precise. Pick the one you would want a new receptionist to use.

The voice

Paused. The voices below are not available to choose today, and no custom brand voice is being recorded. None of this is, or ever was, part of a Lira platform plan: it belonged to Lira Voice, which is a separate paused product.

  • Fred · professional — Nigerian, measured and precise. Best for finance, healthcare and logistics.
  • Fred · conversational — Nigerian, warm and relaxed. Best for hospitality, restaurants and retail.
  • Custom brand voice — clone a voice of your own. We get in touch to record it.

More accents and languages are being added. A female localized voice is coming.

Choosing a voice fills in its default name, but never overwrites a name you have already typed.

Calls a day

Roughly how busy your line is. It tells us what to provision for you, and you can change it any time.

The knowledge base

Reading your website and uploading documents is built but locked during early access. When it opens, your agent will be able to answer from your menu, catalogue or price list without you retyping any of it — and the same knowledge will serve both your phone line and the Lira widget on your website.

Until then, what you type on this page is what your agent knows.
