Voice in the widget and app

Two different things, both called voice

This page is about the voice button inside the Lira widget — a customer on your website or in your app taps a mic and talks to Lira there.

If you want Lira to answer your phone number, that is a separate product: Lira Voice, at voice.liraintelligence.com. It has its own dashboard, its own plans, and you can sign up for it on its own.

Lira can talk to your customers, not just type. The same knowledge-grounded agent that powers chat can answer out loud in a natural, localized voice matched to your market, so a caller hears a warm, on-brand agent that actually understands them instead of a robotic, foreign-sounding IVR.

It is the same brain as chat: answers are grounded in your knowledge base, the agent can take approved actions, and anything it cannot resolve is escalated to your team with full context.

How it works

The voice experience is turn-based and hands-free — the customer just talks:

  1. The customer speaks; their speech is transcribed.
  2. Lira answers from your knowledge base and, where relevant, takes an action.
  3. The reply is spoken back in your chosen localized voice.
  4. For account actions (for example freezing a card), Lira shows an on-screen confirmation the customer taps to approve — the action runs only after approval, with a full audit trail.

Customers can speak their choice or tap on-screen option chips, and can type at any time instead of talking.

Choosing a voice

In-widget voice uses Lira's standard voice. Localized and custom brand voices, including the Nigerian voice Fred, belong to Lira Voice — the phone product, where you choose them yourself during setup.

We do not offer self-serve voice uploads anywhere: cloning a real person's voice requires their consent, so custom brand voices are recorded with our team.

What the voice agent can do

Everything the chat agent can, spoken:

  • Answer questions grounded in your knowledge base.
  • Look things up and take approved actions in your systems (with the same approval policies and audit trail as chat).
  • Offer choices as on-screen chips the customer can tap or say.
  • Escalate to a human with full conversation context when needed.

Getting started

Voice in the widget is a channel switch: Settings → Support → Channels → Voice, and the mic button appears.

Lira answering your phone number is the other product. Start at Lira Voice, or sign up directly at voice.liraintelligence.com.
